San Diego natives, Roy Rapid and the Rhythm Rock Trio formed their original, traditional rockabilly band in the winter of 2010. The group is comprised of Christopher Soltero, AKA Roy Rapid, (Vocals & Rhythm Guitar), Benjamin McCarthy, (Lead Guitar), David Vazquez, (Bass) and Fernando Hermosillo, (Drums).
The last three years have been good to Roy Rapid and the Rhythm Rock Trio. Licensing one of their songs to an under ground horror film, winning the West Coast Rockabilly Showdown in the summer of 2012 and receiving two San Diego Music Award nominations, (2012 for their 16 track debut album, "One Last Chance" and this year (2013) for "Best Americana"). Touring the Southwest, the California coast, providing local support for some of the top touring rockabilly entertainers in the field and being invited to some of the biggest rockabilly festivals in the United States, has gained them the attention of European fans resulting in Sleazy Records, a label based out of Malaga, Spain, releasing their four track vinyl EP, "That Fire", in the winter of 2013.
San Diego Reader Music Critic Bart Mendoza describes the group as..."Mixing country, roots rock and rockabilly. Roy Rapid and the Rhythm Rock Trio have come up with an authentic sound that captures their musical heroes. The band strives for an authenticity that extends from vintage gear, to their dress, as they turn out nice originals in the spirit of their influences, with excellent musicianship and smooth-crooning from Rapid.
